Salt and sauce

'Salt and sauce?' is the question anyone on the east coast of Scotland will recognise with a certain amount of guilty pleasure and maybe even a lick of the lips. It's what you'll hear when you make an order in a chip shop. For anyone who has strayed from these climes, there is a real air of nostalgia about it. 

The phrase forms the basis of our first politics-free print, because not only is it a delicious culinary combination, it also is a perfect way to describe that special relationship in your life – after all, who wouldn't want to be compared to such a timeless and wonderful union? 

Or it may be because we really, really like salt and sauce on our chips – and because surely no one wants vinegar in their love life!
